Your Credit Rights under FCRA
The FCRA gives you specific rights, as outlined below. You may have additional rights under state law. Contact a state or local consumer protection agency to find out about any state mandated rights
Right to Know
Anyone who uses information from a Credit Bureau to take action against you; such as denying credit, insurance, or employment; must tell you, and give you the name, address, and phone number of the CRA (Credit Bureau) that provided the credit report
Right to View
You can find out what is in your file at anytime. If you've been denied credit in the last 60 days, you may request a copy of your report for free. If you are unemployed and will be applying for a job or suspect fraud, you are entitled to a free credit report. Otherwise the CRA (Credit Bureau) can charge up to $9.00
Right to Dispute
You can dispute inaccurate information with the CRA. If you tell a CRA that your file contains inaccurate information, the CRA must investigate the items. They have approximately 30 days to investigate the claim and report to you any findings.
